We partnered with WellBridge Health, a healthcare innovator aiming to unify how patients, clinics, hospitals, and insurance companies interact—by putting user health records at the core of a multi-role ecosystem.
Client Vision:
Our client—a visionary healthcare startup—set out to solve a critical problem: most patients don’t have easy access to their medical history. Information is siloed between hospitals, labs, and insurers. Their idea was to flip the system—give control to the patient, and enable seamless, secure sharing across stakeholders.
The Objective:
The app needed to serve multiple user types—patients, hospitals, standalone clinics, and insurance providers—all under one secure umbrella. At its heart, the app had to remain patient-focused: empowering individuals to manage their entire health journey in one place.
Core Challenges:
- Designing separate onboarding flows and dashboards for each role
- Enabling patients to selectively share medical data with insurers or hospitals
- Building a secure, scalable backend to handle sensitive health records
- Ensuring non-technical users could easily manage complex health inputs
Our Solution:
We architected a powerful Laravel-based backend with strict role-based access controls, encrypted data layers, and a modern, mobile-optimized frontend. The app supports:
1. Multi-Role Architecture:
- Patients/Users: Maintain personal health records, insurance info, habits, and share selectively.
- Hospitals/Clinics: View authorized patient history for faster, accurate diagnosis.
- Insurance Companies: Access patient-approved health data to offer curated health/term insurance plans.
2. Modular Health Record System:
Users can store rich data including:
- Vaccination and medication history
- Blood sugar and vitals tracking
- Exercise, sleep, and dietary habits
- Smoking/alcohol usage insights
- Existing insurance policies and documents
3. Smart Sharing Controls:
One of the core features was our Selective Data Sharing Engine. Patients can allow:
- Hospitals to view full or partial history (e.g. last 6 months of medication only)
- Insurance companies to access wellness data for underwriting personalized plans
4. Hospital & Clinic Interface:
Registered providers get real-time access to patient records—only with consent. Doctors can view allergies, chronic conditions, and prior treatments, reducing medical errors and improving diagnosis accuracy.
5. Insurance Insights & Lead Matching:
Insurers on the platform can filter users by anonymized health trends (e.g. non-smokers aged 30–45 with no chronic illness) and pitch tailored policies—improving conversion and underwriting efficiency.
6. Security & Compliance:
- Role-based API authentication
- End-to-end data encryption
- Audit trails for every data access
We followed best practices aligned with HIPAA and regional health-data norms to ensure patient privacy and platform trust.
Impact:
- Patients gained a single source of truth for their health journey
- Hospitals cut onboarding time by accessing pre-filled, accurate history
- Insurance companies improved lead quality and policy personalization
Our client now has a solid technical foundation to expand regionally, integrate with diagnostic labs, and even explore AI-driven preventive health nudges.
Conclusion:
Healthcare innovation doesn’t always mean new medicine—sometimes, it means better access. By building a robust yet user-friendly app, we’ve helped bridge the gap between medical records and real-world healthcare access. This project reflects our passion: solving meaningful problems with technology that puts users first.
